As part of the Beth Israel Lahey Health system, we now have the opportunity to care for even more individuals across eastern Massachusetts.About the JobPosition Summary:Arranges for efficient and orderly checking in and out of patients, registering patients in the computer ensuring that accurate information is collected and patients are made aware of office policies. Schedules all appointments, collects payments, enters charges, and issues receipts. Provide referrals and maintain smooth operations of all front desk activities at all times. The Medical Receptionist responds to patient questions, coordinates services to be rendered to patients, participates in Call Center rotations and maintains physician schedules.Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:Scope of responsibilities may vary by division and/or departmentCore Values:* Customer Service: Promotes and adheres to Patient's 1st/Care 1st standards of customer service, professional behavior, and team approach/initiatives* Professional Behavior: is competent, accountable and demonstrates high standards of behavior.* Team Approach/Initiative: willingness to be accountable and self-directed to complete job/work in collaboration with other members of the health care team.* Fosters relationships and openly and directly communicates with members of other departments to insure the consistent and appropriate flow of information.* Seeks opportunities to promote excellence through knowledge and/or participation in performance improvement activities.Clinical/Technical Competency:* Collect and update data in EMR system including insurance and demographic information on all patients make photocopies/scan insurance cards.* Answers telephone within three rings, places caller on hold only after caller agrees they can wait and always reconnects call within 1 minute.* Takes clear, unambiguous messages, determines call backs for clinicians and other office staff.* Obtains prescription refill information and triages emergency calls immediately* Facilitates insurance referrals and authorizations for scheduled procedures, office visits and testing* Runs / Utilized reports from EPIC to assist with managing patient population* Assists with management of department work queuesScheduling:* Arranges for efficient and orderly checking in and out of patients* Registering patients in the EMR system ensuring that accurate information is collected and patients are made aware of office policies.* Schedules all appointments, collects payments, enters charges, issues receipts* Coordinates and provides insurance referrals and prior authorizations* Maintains smooth operations of all front desk activities at all times.* Responds to patient questions, coordinates services to be rendered to patients, participates in Call Center rotations and maintains physician schedules as needed.* Initiates patient prescriptions and refills according to provider orders* Communicates with patients regarding requirements for appointments, procedures and test preparations, etc.* Coordinates third party home care and the access to durable medical equipment as needed.Safety:* Completes annual Core Competency Requirement* Creates and maintains a safe working environment by following Safety/Infection Control/Employee Health Policies & Procedures, using Personal Protective Equipment, using Personal Protective Equipment, using Safety devices, and properly disposing of infectious/hazardous waste. Reports incidents, accidents and hazards as per policy.* Responds to patient concerns and potential patient safety issues.* Recognizes health conditions that are a possible risk to others and helps contain risk.Organizational Requirements:Maintain strict adherence to the Lahey Health Confidentiality policy.Incorporate Lahey Health CREATE and/or Core Principles into daily activities.Comply with all Lahey Health Policies.Comply with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Health.Maintain courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.Demonstrate an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.Demonstrate a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.Participate in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.Participate in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.Perform all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.Minimum Qualifications:Education:Associates degree in business, high school diploma or equivalent years of experience in a professional settingLicensure, Certification & Registration:NoneExperience:Previous experience in a medical officeSkills, Knowledge & Abilities:Performing medical scheduling, and with medical software; working experience with medical terminology; appropriate English usage; excellent phone skills and dealing with customers in person; even temperament; ability to handle stressful situations.ShiftDAYS/ PART-TIME/ 32 HOURS/ LYNNAbout UsBeth Israel Lahey Health is an integrated system providing patients with better care wherever they are.
