THE OPPORTUNITYThis role is focused on creating and implementing safe and effective processes and systems to support and enable the manufacturing team. As a leader you will create and inspire a team of engineers trained in continuous improvement methodologies achieving success through collaboration and teamwork. You will be responsible for developing and leading a new manufacturing engineering team supporting all assembly, test, materials, and logistics processes for RF Operations in Gloucester, MA. You will collaborate across all functional areas: sales, supply chain, facilities, quality, manufacturing, and design engineering. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead an engineering team covering manufacturing, test, new product introduction, and sustaining
  • Ensure that all projects and programs assigned are completed in accordance with predetermined requirements, with specific attention to product/process specifications, project/program costs, resource utilization, and timeliness for completion
  • Establish departmental budgets and spending requirements. Ensure that the utilization of all material and financial resources is carried out in an effective manner in alignment with company goals to ensure maximum productivity for the group
  • Spearhead research and development of new manufacturing technologies, methods, and systems as appropriate, and ensure that newly created processes, designs, and/or methodologies are effective for the manufacturing team
  • Effectively utilize common engineering technology and software packages for optimization of design, development, and sustaining activities
  • Collaborate with supply chain to select and qualify vendors, evaluate on-going quality and reliability in manufacturing and through customer ownership
  • Analyse manufacturing data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement; identify and utilize methods of making manufacturing process more efficient and effective (reducing waste, using lean and 6S practices)
  • Develop assembly and test layouts and overall factory layouts for safety, smooth flow, quality level achievement, utilization, cost efficiency, and visual factory capabilities
  • Monitor and evaluate workflow and assembly methods and make recommendations for process improvements. Drive transparency and improvement on cost and capability through data analytics, including cycle time analysis and resource capacity modelling
  • Ensure manufacturability to consistent quality of finished product ensuring customer, statutory, standards, and internal requirements are met or exceeded
  • Direct corrective action of any manufacturing problems that may arise; work with Quality Manger in development and implementation of corrective and preventative actions (CAPA)
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement product engineering changes while participating in ECO/ECR process. Ensure that the company's document control process is implemented and remains effective as well as contractor compliance/safety sites Key Qualifications and Skills
    --- Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., mechanical, industrial, electrical, process, etc.). Master's degree preferred (Engineering, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, MBA)
    • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Electronics experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team of professionals
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels & educational backgrounds.
    • Strong organizational and managerial skills required. Project management experience is a must
    • Lean and 6S implementation experience is essential. Certifications preferred.
    • Strong individual competency and leadership ability in engineering change processes, engineering design and product introduction systems
    • Capability to initiate and lead process improvements
