About the Job
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager of Health Information
Management, the Data Integrity Specialist is responsible for
maintaining the integrity of the Enterprise Master Patient Index
(EMPI) and the correctness of documentation within the electronic
health record. This position requires critical thinking to support
the integrity of the hospital's legacy and current electronic
health record systems. Merge decisions and chart correction actions
must only be made after careful and thorough investigation since a
duplicate medical record for a patient could impede the patient
care process. This position works with all levels of the
organization including nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff.
Accurate patient care depends on accurate documentation.
Essential Functions:
* Medical terminology
* Knowledge of JC, CMS, DPH documentation regulations; and Medical
Staff Bylaws and Department documentation standards
* Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to health
information
* Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to patient
confidentiality
* Competency in Epic Identity and Chart Correction processes
* Adheres to Department, Hospital and Human Resource Policies.
* Performs other duties as required.
Scheduled Hours
40 hours per week, days.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
* Associates degree or higher preferred
* Previous experience working in Health Information Management
* Computer skills; Epic experience desirable
