Dr. Christopher Taron in analytical glycobiology. The proposed work
aims to study newly discovered enzymes that generate glycopeptides
or that act upon chemical modifications of glycans (e.g.,
sulfation). A primary focus will be on understanding the
specificities and biochemical properties of new enzymes discovered
from environmental screening. Additional work will apply
interesting specificities to analytical workflows (e.g., glycomics,
glycoproteomics, or MALDI imaging) to improve the analysis of
glycans/glycoproteins in the context of complex biological samples.
The research will be done in collaboration with our high-throughput
enzyme discovery team and our protein mass spectrometry team. The
ideal candidate will:
- Have research experience in glycobiology, preferably working
with free-glycans and/or glycopeptides

expression and biochemical characterization of proteins
- Be familiar with current glycomics and glycoproteomics
techniques
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part
of a large multidisciplinary team
- Be able to lead a basic research project that spans multiple
technical disciplinesQualifications:
