culture. The Safety Programs Engineer supports the development,
maturation, and day-to-day operation of BETA’s Safety Management
System (SMS) and Continued Operational Safety (COS) programs.
Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply
chain, and customer support teams, the Safety Programs Engineer
leads the integration of safety risk management into day-to-day
operations and product lifecycle activities. The Safety Programs
Engineer also assists with regulatory engagement and compliance
efforts, helping ensure the SMS and COS programs meet FAA
requirements and industry best practices as the organization grows.

collaborative mindset, and a practical, continuous-improvement
approach to building an effective and sustainable safety culture.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
Develop and maintain safety documentation (e.g. Safety Management
System Manual, Continued Operational Safety Plan, Safety Policy),
including defining new processes, piloting them within teams,
gathering feedback, and iterating to improve effectiveness Define
practical safety analysis approaches aligned with applicable
standards and regulatory guidance (e.g., ARP4754, ARP4761, ASTM
F3230, Small Airplane Risk Analysis (SARA) Handbook, AC 39-8 -
Continued Airworthiness Assessments of Powerplant and Auxiliary
Power Unit Installations of Transport Category Airplanes). Lead and
facilitate hazard identification, safety risk assessments, and
development of mitigation strategies for design, manufacturing, and
operational activities, while helping teams adopt safety risk
management concepts and apply them consistently Support the intake,
triage, and assessment of in-service safety reports and operational
events, working with cross-functional teams to evaluate risk,
identify trends, and feed lessons learned back into appropriate
teams and processes Support development and tracking of
safety-related corrective action plans. Define and monitor safety
performance indicators and analyze safety data to identify trends,
emerging risks, and control effectiveness Assist in preparing the
organization for FAA reviews and oversight by helping define
compliance approaches, supporting internal readiness activities,
and adapting processes as regulatory expectations and
organizational needs become clearer Design, develop, and deliver
safety training that supports practical application and cultural
buy-in, adjusting content as processes and organizational maturity
evolve Assist with safety communications and promotion activities
to encourage teammate engagement and reporting Serve as a
knowledgeable mentor for SMS and COS processes and best practices
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace,
Systems Engineering, or a related technical field 4–7 years of
relevant experience in aerospace, product safety, or systems
engineering Demonstrated experience supporting the development or
implementation of new processes or programs, including piloting,
evaluating effectiveness, and iterating based on feedback and data
Experience facilitating cross-functional discussions (working with
engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, or customer
support) and documenting technical or safety analyses Effective
written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to
clearly document processes, develop work instructions, and present
status or recommendations to diverse audiences Above and Beyond
Qualifications Direct experience supporting or operating an SMS
within an aircraft design, manufacturing, or operational
environment Familiarity with FAA regulatory frameworks, including
14 CFR 5 Safety Management Systems and 14 CFR 21.3 Continued
Operational Safety concepts Experience with hazard analysis, safety
investigations, or risk assessment methodologies Experience working
with in-service data, safety reporting systems, or corrective
action tracking tools The wage listed here reflects our best faith
